Good news for those who always wanted to be police officers but didn¡¯t meet the physical requirements. Height and weight standards will be lifted from the second half of this year, giving way instead to stricter evaluations of physical strength.
The NPA announced the Decree on the Appointment of Police Officers and said the newly revised standards would take effect starting this July.
Until now, the minimum height and weight for police applicants were 167 cm and 57 kg for men, 157 cm and 47 kg for women.
While these requirements will be abolished, the police plan to add a category in the physical examination to test left-right gripping power. Evaluation standards for the 100m run and sit-ups have also been adjusted upwards.
